Feed Reading

I think feed reading is better than web site reading. It'll save time and I'll have more time to get other things done. I have never used web feeds before but I think they are better than how I have been going from web site to web site. Not certain if I have any questions at this time but there should be questions probably later.

Review: Little Green Footballs

The Little Green Footballs is political blog leaning to the RIGHT. Compared to my local News Paper, my news paper has no videos to watch. Here is a link with more information on one of the posts: http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/35512_American_Evangelicals_Enabled_Ugandas_Death_Penalty_for_Gays.

Why oh why we have to create accounts and log in just to make a post. Why oh why not just go to the site and say what you want to say without having to create an account and logging in.

Review: Daily Kos

The Daily Kos is a political blog, publishing news and opinion from liberal or progressive point of view. The site sources links that lead to more information. The Daily Kos is similar to my local newspaper with opinion letters and news.

I do not like to creating accounts and having to log in and post an opinion. Why not just go to the site and post an opinion or news totally anonymous. Here is a link with more information on one of the posts: http://www.aclu.org/national-security/surveillance-under-usa-patriot-act.

Review: The Daily Howler

The Daily Howler is a political blog written by Bob Somerby. Somerby often criticizes education writing particularly articles on scholastic achievement in low performing elementary and high school. The blog cites sources for information on the subject of the blog that was written.

I think the political blog by Somerby compared to my local newspaper is the somewhat the same stuff with little regard to facts. I do not like how some people have little regard for others. Here is one informational link from the New York Times regarding education: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/05/opinion/05murray.html?ref=opinion

Fireworks Thoughts

Fireworks! I think Fireworks has similarities with Photoshop. I did some similar stuff, such as cropping, scaling, and rubber stamping in Photoshop. I think I could put some pictures together of family and relatives and make a poster. Maybe I could start with a few pictures and add to it every now and then when I am happy with it I can make a poster. I just do not know what I will do with Fireworks yet. I do not have a Website of my own yet either. But knowing what I learned so far maybe I can utilize them if and when I do get a Web site.

Blogging and Journalism

Are bloggers jounalists? Why or why not? No, I don't think bloggers are journalist because bloggers rely on other blogs and do not qualify as journalists.

Bloggers have been responsible for breaking and carrying news stories that have resulted in senators losing their jobs and possibly changed the course of the last presidential election. Is that good or bad? Yes it is good in a way to keep people from doing wrong things behind closed doors such as senators. You don't want crooks running in the office right? But it is also bad if it is done in a wrong way, such as, to gain a position in an office.

Should bloggers have the same rights (to access events, interview, etc) and protections (not to have to reveal their sources) as nespaper and television reporters? Yes, bloggers should have rights and protections as long as bloggers don't violate anyone.

Flickr & Diigo

Flickr and Diigo are both management and sharing applications. In Flickr you could upload and share photos and in Diigo you can share bookmarks and web sites.

Although I have never used other applications other than Flickr and Diigo, I think both Flickr and Diigo are excellent. Before I knew or found out about these two applications the only way I knew how to manage my photos and bookmarks was on my computer or an external drive or a flash drive. Now I know there is a place out there where I can manage my photos and bookmarks without cluttering up my computer and share them too. Awesome!

It took me a while for me to make the applications to behave like I wanted them to behave. But now I know and I am glad I got to now these two applications and I think I will keep on using them if I do not find an easier way of managing my photos and bookmarks. Who knows I just might stick with these two applications because they are the first ones I learned how to use.
